Cloud computing as a genre is without a doubt overhyped, and companies big and small race to recast existing products as "next generation" or "cloud." But among the chaos, there are a few technology trends to watch, and a few young software companies that you should bet on.

In his session at the 9th International Cloud Expo, Greg Bybee, a graduate student at Stanford University on leave from VMware, will go over some of the exciting advancements in the way infrastructure is managed and information is consumed. Technologies include analytic engines and business intelligence, in-memory databases and data caching, synchronous data replication, and distributed storage.
